The following is a list of projects in the Sixth Congressional District that received funding in the Fiscal Year 2008 budget:

MISSING Program
(Anderson, IN) - $352,500 received

This program is a computer simulation designed to teach Internet safety to middle school-aged children. Anderson Community Schools Corporation is partnering with Web Wise Kids, a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting children from online predators, to use funds to train teachers on how to implement MISSING.

SAFE-T Digital Radio System (Muncie, IN) - $267,900 received

This project is to upgrade the current police communications system in Muncie. New radio equipment is necessary in order to meet compliance standards with Indiana’s Project Hoosier SAFE-T Net program.

Sheriff’s Department Dispatch and Records Management Upgrade
(Delaware County, IN) - $133,950 received

This project will enhance and update Delaware County’s ability to provide improved multi-disciplinary 9-1-1 Dispatch capabilities throughout the entire county.

Improving Musculoskeletal Health and Function (Muncie, IN) - $1,200,000 received

Ball State University, in cooperation with the U.S. Army Research Institute of Environmental Medicine, will examine the effects of fatigue, structural limitations, load carriage and exercise on various biomechanical aspects of human motion and performance.

Improvised Ordinance Detonator (IOD) Advanced Development (Anderson, IN) - $1,600,000 received

This project will allow for use of approximately 35 highly effective, mobile, robotically-controlled counter-IED systems, developed by XADS, at the disposal of the Air Force in Iraq and Afghanistan. These systems will be used for perimeter security and for finding and detonating all IEDs, mines and other hidden explosives, of any type, located on, under or alongside roadways in a safe manner to military service members.

White River
(Anderson, IN) - $2,113,000 received

This project will address urban flood damages by raising and upgrading approximately 5,000 linear feet of the existing levee in and around the athletic park area to protect approximately 130 structures.

Upper Wabash River Basin, Indiana and Ohio (Wells, Jay, & Adams Counties, IN) - $250,000 received

This U.S. Army Corps project is a watershed study that would focus on flood damage reduction and ecosystem restoration for approximately 492,450 acres contained within the Upper Wabash Watershed, including parts of Wells, Jay, Huntington, and Adams counties in Indiana and Auglaize, Darke, and Mercer Counties in Ohio. It has been 36 years since the last comprehensive watershed study in this region.

Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana
(Columbus), Center for Cybersecurity (Columbus, IN) - $146,000 received

This project will provide funds for the Ivy Tech Center for cybersecurity to train the existing and developing workforce in an emerging, high-demand, high-paid profession through mastering of the latest security technologies.

Ball Memorial Hospital Cardiology Center (Muncie, IN) - $97,000 received

This project funding will go toward purchase of equipment for the new Cardiology Center. The new Cardiology Center will enable all cardiology services to be housed in one area, including cardiac rehabilitation, non-invasive cardiopulmonary services, in-patient cardiac beds, critical care beds and physician offices.

Transit Acquisition and Intermodal Facility Project (Anderson, IN) - $400,000 received

This project is for construction of an Intermodal Transportation Facility and the purchase of seven transit buses and four para-transit bans and other related equipment.

Unity Center (Muncie, IN) - $350,000 received

This project involves construction of a new community center. The center will provide a safe and integrated environment for all low-income citizens, from youth to seniors, and will maximize all resources in order to provide essential, family-oriented programs, after-school learning programs, after-school balanced snack programs, health screenings and senior health programs.

Center for Applied Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing at Certified Technology (Columbus, IN) - $150,000 received

This project is for design and construction of a 50,000-sq. ft., state-of-the-art center for engineering and manufacturing excellence within the city’s Tech Park. Initial construction costs are estimated to be $3,450,000.
